Social Media and World Revolutions
Social media has been the great equalizer. People no longer have to be famous or rich to have a platform that reaches the masses. If you want to talk to the President, you can tweet him at his Twitter handle. If you’d like to tell Taylor Swift you loved her album, you can find her Facebook page and leave her a message on her wall. Similarly, if you want to raise awareness of the growing problem of human trafficking, you can create a hashtag on Twitter that people can follow and tell their friends and followers, creating a wave of support.
Activism has exploded thanks to social media. Never before has it been so easy to bring people to your cause, and tell your side of the story to those in power. This infographic created by the University of Southern California’s Public Administration Dept. examines the way social media is helping people change the world
